The Lake District Peninsulas
is quickly becoming a favoured option for group travel organisers and educational visits.
Many groups and schools who already visit the area are delighted with
not only the variety of attractions, but also the warm welcome they receive
and the opportunity to include a new area on their traditional Lake District

Here are just a few
reasons why the Lake District Peninsulas is an ideal destination for groups.

is easy access from junction 36 of the M6
on the A590 with Grange-over-Sands being
approximately 12 miles from this junction
and Ulverston is 25 miles from this
junction.

- There is an excellent variety
of visitor attractions catering for a wide range of tastes and budgets.
Many offer incentives to drivers/group organisers and several attractions
are free. Two of the area's major attractions, the Dock Museum and Colony
Candles, charge no admission fee.
- There are a number of hotels
in the area, which welcome groups and offer competitive prices.
- There is free coach parking
available in Ulverston and Barrow-in-Furness with easy access to shops,
attractions and eating-places.
- The Town Crier 'performs'
in Ulverston on Market Days, (Thursdays and Saturdays). It is possible

| A Classic Tour of the Lake

market town, whose charter was granted in 1280. Ulverston boast a
host of charming speciality shops, cobbled streets and curious winding
ginnels. A bustling street market takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays
with our very own town crier on hand to extend an official welcome

along the coast road, to the Dock Museum in Barrow. The Coast Road
offers spectacular views across Morecambe Bay.

the fascinating history of Barrow-in-Furness and discover how it grew
from a tiny 19th century hamlet to the biggest iron and steel centre

"Porthole Pantry" Café serves delicious refreshments on
site. The Dock Museum is fully accessible to wheelchair users.

the diving ducks.

second wealthiest Cistercian Abbey in the
country.

at Furness Abbey to discover the mystery behind
the life of a medieval monk. Audiotape tours are

advanced bookings. This is thought to be the
hiding place of King John's missing jewels and
the Holy Grail.

Bobbin Mill for a fascinating insight into the
story of the cotton industry, wooden bobbin
manufacturing and the people who worked there.

genuine early nineteenth century working museum
and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the Steam
Engine is in operation. This attraction is
located 1-2 miles from Lakeside Steamer Pier.

you and for Motoring Memories, the Lakeland Motor
Museum with over 150 classic and vintage cars,
bicycles and motorbikes, plus the Donald Campbell
Legend Exhibition. There is a café on site where
lunch can be arranged or there are picnic tables
which look out over the 125 acre Deer Park.
